Abstract: This session will discuss why Assistive Technology access is important and the role that Maker spaces can play. We will highlight some of the fabrication projects, such as 3D printing and switch adaptation, run by TechOwl. Finally, we will go over how to utilize resources like your state Assistive Technology Act Program.
Overview of the TechOWL program including their mission, AT/seated and wheeled mobility equipment lending program, and expansion into the Maker realm. Other programs nationally like this that exist for access.
TechOWL (formerly PIAT) helps people with disabilities explore the tools and technology they need to be independent. TechOWL is Pennsylvania's Assistive Technology Act program. TechOWL has nine regional centers across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
